1. How did you first become involved with Combat Shock?

Buddy & I were students in the film production program at the College of staten island...(Buddy later went on to teach this class for 7 years or so...) CS was shot over a year on weekends mostly. Although I get screen credit for special make-up effects, I did a little of everything on Combat Shock, including cameraman, pulling focus, some editing, grip, set and costume destroying, etc. One has to wear many hats with a zero budget! I was but one of 4 different effects people on the film as well as Ralph Cordero, Jeff Matthes and Brian Powell (Bri Droogie!)... Ralph and I went on to work on a few more projects including: The Toxic Avenger, The Oracle & The Brother from Another Planet.

2. What effects in the film are you the most proud of?

I guess the baby, but the quick shots of carnage made with no money is also a fave.

3. Did you expect the film to become the cult classic it is while making it?

It was really a college film thesis project that picked up by Troma...During the editing, Buddy and I would muse to ourselves how "film theorists and historians" will be arguing over these scenes in the future...I was just goofing at the time, but I believe it has come true. We both had no idea it would still be discussed 20 years later!

4. What was the best experience on the set of Combat Shock?

Hard to say, production was so tiresome, but some of the funniest times would come in the editing room!

5. What is your favorite scene in the film?

I like the end massacre, it's quite un-relenting for a low-budget film.

6. What are some of your favorite Troma movies?

The Toxic Avenger, Mother's Day, and of course, Bloodsucking Freaks

7. Anything else you'd like to mention?

Just a note to would-be film-makers....don't waste your time on film school, take the money and produce your flick!
