Frankie was a prisoner of war during the Vietnam war. His life after the war isn't much better either: he's broke, he can't get a job, his son is deformed from the Agent Orange that was sprayed during the war, his wife nags him constantly, and he owes a gang leader money. All of this, plus his frequent flashbacks, slowly lead Frankie to insanity.
