Anna Manni(Asia Argento), a beautiful police detective is in persuit of a savage serial killer-rapist who has been terrorizing Italy. When the trail leads to an art museum, Anna discovers she is a ictim of the Stendhal Syndrome: a pyschological reaction to artwork that makes the viewer fall unconscious and artwork begins to come to life. Her new condition leaves her susceptible to the terror she's searching for.
