  • 2/18/04 - Toxic Avenger named one of the 100 Best Movies You've Never Seen
Richard Crouse of IFC's Reel To Real released a book titled The 100 Best Movies You've Never Seen and Troma's flagship title The Toxic Avenger was one of the films listed. Along with being named among the other 99 films, Crouse also interviews Lloyd Kaufman about the film. I've yet to read the book, but as usual, Lloyd's interview should prove to be entertaining.
  • 2/14/04 - Tales From The Crapper screeners on sale; Lloyd in Film Festival Today Magazine; Troma DVD buyers guide online; My Neighbor Totoro posters; Toxic Adventures cartoon
Sorry folks, I've been neglecting to update the news page, so here's one big update. First off, if you can't wait to see Troma's first in-house MiniDV film, VHS screeners of Tales From The Crapper are now availible at the Tromaville Maul. The cost is $34.95 and all copies come autographed by Lloyd Kaufman. Click here to pick up your copy!
Also, Film Festival Today Magazine has named Lloyd Kaufman one of the 25 Most Influential People in Independent Film, coming in at number 22.
The official Troma DVD Buyer's Guide is now online in Adobe Acrobat PDF files. It appears that Ryko Distribution is handling Troma's DVD distribution now. There will be an interview with Lloyd Kaufman on this site soon and we will try to find out a bit more about Troma's relationship with Ryko.
As Troma fans and Anime fans know, Troma was the first company to release a Hayao Miyazaki film in America in 1993 when they released My Neighbor Totoro theatrically. Well, some posters from that theatrical run were found at the offices and are now on sale at the Tromaville Maul. These posters are EXTREMELY RARE and once they're gone, they're gone forever. So if you're a Hayao Miyazaki fan, you might want to swing over to buy one ASAP.
Also, Troma fan James Bernardinelli has created his own Toxic Avenger cartoon called Toxic Adventures. The cartoon is free for download at his website, but dialup users beware: the file is a 78mb MPEG.

  • 11/24/03 - Troma featured on NPR's Next Big Thing
The NPR segment Next Big Thing recently did a brief story on Troma, which includes some audio from the completion of Tales From The Crapper and Lloyd speaks a bit about the McDonalds next-door to the Troma building inspiring Poultrygiest. However, the interviewer and host of the show did not seem too supportive of Troma, going as far as assuring the listeners that it'll only last about 7 minutes and that Poultrygiest "will not be playing at a Lowes Cineplex near you." The segment is availible in RealAudio here and I'll try to get a downloadable version online soon.
