Chad Ferrin's The Ghouls picked up by Heretic Films
After a long wait, the new film from Unspeakable director Chad Ferrin has finally found distribution through Heretic Films, which is an offshoot of the UK's Salvation and Redemption Films. The Ghouls will also be playing at the Halfway To Hollywood film festival in Kansas City and will be screened this summer at The Mini-Cinema Film Festival(which I also run... imagine that). To learn more, check out Crappy World Films' official website or the Post Tromatic Shlock review.

Trent Haaga Interviewed At Film Threat
Former Troma star Trent Haaga was interviewed recently at Filmthreat.com about his work with Troma, The Ghouls, and a whole lot more. You can check out the interview here.

Messy Stench, December '03 Tromette, to appear in Hustler
The Tromette for December 2003, Messy Stench, will be appearing in next month's Hustler magazine. There's a full article over at MK Magazine's website. In case you missed it, there was an interview with Messy here a few months ago. It certainly adds to my bragging rights, since I recommended her for the Tromette spot, I can add "somewhat discovered a Hustler model" to my list of accomplishments. :P

Chad Ferrin's The Ghouls finds foreign distribution
The Ghouls, the second film from Unspeakable director Chad Ferrin, has secured overseas distribution with IFM. There's a cool little promo graphic and a badly translated english synopsis at their website. Also, Film Threat has given the film a very positive review. Check it out here!

  • 4/05/04 - Takashi Miike is NOT set to direct Sgt. Kabukiman 2
A joke that a fan posted on the Troma Message Boards has created a rumor that Japanese director Takashi Miike is set to direct a big-budget sequel to Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD. The post linked to a Japanese article on Miike that reportedly said he'd be directing Kabukiman 2. Even bloody-disgusting.com picked up the story. However, Tromatized! has recieved confirmation that this is a hoax. If you use a translator on that same news article, you can see there's no mention of Kabukiman, Troma, Lloyd Kaufman, or anything pertaining to Miike directing the film. Though Lloyd mentioned Takashi Miike having interest in directing a Kabukiman sequel in an interview with Slasherdome 2, I'm guessing this was just a joke as Troma webmaster Chris Lanphear confirmed that there are currently no plans for a Kabukiman 2 nor is Takashi Miike set to direct it.

  • 3/24/04 - Mojo Nixon to retire
Mojo Nixon, star of the Troma pickup Buttcrack, has confirmed on his official website that he has retired on March 20th, 2004. The legendary musician played his final show at The Continental Club in Austin, Texas during the annual SXSW party. Mojo will be hosted a full day of music starting at 10am, then appeared on stage with his band The Toadliquors for one last time. Tromatized! wishes Mojo Nixon the best of luck with his retirement. For those of you who haven't heard it yet, I did an interview with Mojo back in December over on the interviews page.

  • 3/23/04 - WK appearance on Law & Order: SVU delayed to March 30th
Those of you looking forward to seeing Will Keenan tonight on Law & Order will have to wait. The episode has been pushed back to March 30th.

  • 3/20/04 - Will Keenan to appear on Law & Order: SVU, gets TV option, and distribution deal through Koch
Will Keenan fans should be sure to tune into Law & Order: SVU on NBC this Tuesday, March 23rd because he will be doing a guest appearance. In other WK news, his scene in the upcoming film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind has unfortunately been cut (but hopefully will resurface on the DVD release). Also, Will Keenan and Gadi Harel(the "continuity guy" in Terror Firmer) have had an idea for a TV show optioned by a former Baywatch producer. The details on the show are unknown and Will and Gadi are keeping the details secret to avoid any rip-offs. Last but not least in this news post about Tromeo himself is that his production company Hoverground Studios has signed a deal with Go-Kart Films and Koch Distribution to release some Hoverground films, such as Waiting and Operation Midnight Climax, on DVD. Hoverground has a large back-log of critically acclaimed titles that are unfortunately unreleased, so it's great to see that they've finally gained distribution. Also, many of the Hoverground films feature appearances from Troma stars like Lloyd Kaufman, Debbie Rochon, Trent Haaga, and Ron Jeremy and cast members of MTV's The State, such as Michael Showalter and Kerri Kenney(who also had a brief cameo in Terror Firmer).

It also appears that Suicide will be released with two different DVD covers, with a less offensive cover for retail stores. Here's the full schedule:
