Status: Pre-production

Plot Outline:
When the American Chicken Bunker, a military-themed fried-chicken chain, builds a restaurant on the site of an ancient Indian burial ground, local protestors aren't the only ones crying fowl! The previous tenants, fueled by a supernatural force, take "possession" of the food and those who eat it, and the survivors discover that they must band together before they themselves become the other white meat! All of this, plus hints at lesbians, wake up calls to the American dream, and Vietnam flashbacks! It's Dawn of the Dead meets My Fair Lady... with flesh-eating chicken zombies!

Screenplay by: Gabe Friedman recently completed a new draft of the screenplay. It's very highly expected that Lloyd Kaufman will be working on the script as well.

Music by: As of right now, Troma is reporting that Count Smokula and Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory will be working on songs, as well as lyrics from Lloyd and Gabe.  (5/02/05) There are several demos of songs on the official website.

Special Effects: Tim Considine, who's previously worked with Troma in Toxie 3, Terror Firmer, Citizen Toxie, and Tales From The Crapper, has been asked to create the main zombie chicken effects.  (5/02/05)  It appears that the special effects may be culled from fan submissions, judging by the website.

Characters: Though we won't know if they'll be sticking around for the final film, Troma reports that the following characters will be involved in the film's story:
Arbie - a high school graduate who skipped college to take care of his parents. Ends up working at American Chicken Bunker to spite his ex-girlfriend Wendy
Wendy - Arbie's ex-girlfriend who leaves him for Micki.
Micki - Lesbian protestor of American Chicken Bunker.
General Lee Roy - The owner and figurehead of ACB.
Ronald - The African American manager of ACB who fought in Vietnam.
Killer Coq - We're not sure what this character is, but he was mentioned while Troma was at Cannes 2004.

Release Dates: Also too early to tell... but I'd estimate 2006 or 2007.

News and Job Calls:
  • 5/02/05 - Yeah, long time since we've updated isn't it?  Well, Troma.com has been featuring a large amount of fan submissions for Poultrygeist, which we've been informed is now fully titled Poultrygeist: Attack of the Chicken Zombies.  Lloyd used this title when he pitched the film on G4's Attack of the Show.

    According to an article at     floridatoday.com, the film is in negotiations to be shot in Brevard County, Florida.  Whether this actually goes through or not is left to be seen.

    It was also stated that Lemmy from Motorhead will indeed be making an appearance.  This will mark his fourth Troma appearance in a row, starting with Tromeo & Juliet.
  • 11/7/04 - Troma is now expecting casting for the film to take place in Spring 2005.
  • 5/28/04 - As of right now, Troma is just in the pre-production stages of Poultrygeist, but they are looking for songwriters and effects artists to help out with the film. If you look at the Poultrygeist page on Troma.com, there are descriptions of what the songs should be about. In the effects department, they are looking for "Evil dead-ish human chicken hybrids bent on destroying the world" and both puppets and make-up. Whatever you create is your application.
