Chopper Chicks In Zombietown is one of the most popular Troma pickups (possibly because of the somewhat wide release through New Line Home Video and Columbia Home Video) and is often brought up because of a small role that Sling Blade actor (not to mention Angelina Jolie's ex-beau) Billy Bob Thorton is featured in a small role and unlike other actors who have roots in Troma, he actually acknowledges his work with Troma! The film also features a medium-sized role from Hal Sparks, who'd go on to host E!'s Talk Soup and star in the Showtime series Queer As Folk. MTV VJ Martha Quinn also appears in a very small role. Okay, enough name dropping, let's get to the review.
The film is about a group of female drifters called the Cycle Sluts who travel from town to town on their motorcycles. Little do the Cycle Sluts know, but the current town they've stopped in is being taken over by a crazed mortician Ralf Willum(played by Don Calfa of Return of the Living Dead) who has been creating his own zombies, for a motive he describes like this: "I didn't do it for science. And I didn't do it for glory. I'M JUST MEAN!" With the help of his dwarf servant Bob(played by famous dwarf actor Ed Gale) who's forced to recite the Bob motto ("If God had wanted me to be like normal people, he would have made me look like normal people..." ). When the zombies that Willum has already created get released and roam into the town (with their hysterical carnival-esque theme music playing, complete with slide whistles), the Cycle Sluts team up with a bus load of blind school children to stop the zombies by decapitating them!
Chopper Chicks In Zombietown is an extremely fun and campy film, boasting a very nice cast. It's not a brilliant film, but certainly entertaining and the hilarious music makes it worth at least a rental.
