Review: Dead Dudes In The House
Reviewed by: Justin Channell

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the most deceptive of Troma's title swaps.  This film, which originally was titled The Dead Come Home, was retitled to Dead Dudes In The House, to take advantage of the success of hip-hop culture films like House Party.  Only problem is:  there's no hip-hop culture to speak of in the film.

The film follows some friends heading out to the middle of nowhere to start renovating a house that their friend Mark has purchased.  The house is a little run-down, but fixable, but they bring along their contractor friend Bob along to make sure everything runs smoothly.  Only problem is that Bob is a total dick.  He ends up smashing a tombstone in the backyard, which happened to be the grave of Annabelle, the previous occupant of the house, who had murdered her husband in the 1940s.  Now, they're trapped in the house with the spirit of Annabelle killing their friends and possessing their bodies.

For what it is -- a fun popcorn horror movie you'd expect to see on cable late at night -- Dead Dudes In The House is a lot of fun.   There's nothing overall spectacular about the film, but there's no real negative aspects either.  To be completely honest, it's a pretty mediocre film, but it's got some charm.  However, I will say Troma's renaming was a bit uncalled for this time around.

If you can find it to rent, definitely check out Dead Dudes In The House.  It's a fun little Evil Dead-esque horror flick and worth watching, just for fun.  You can also pick it up on one of those Brentwood Toxie's Triple Terror sets.
