The First Turn On is the fourth Troma film in the early "sexy comedy" series before The Toxic Avenger. I believe it is by far the funniest in the series and also features the most sex and the best boobs for your Troma dollar. The film is about a dizzy camp counselor and four teenage summer campers who get trapped in cave after an avalanche. The group consists of two girls and three guys. After surviving the ordeal and waiting for rescue, they do what anyone in this situation would do; they each decide to tell their stories about how they lost their virginity. Most of the stories are greatly exaggerated but they get each other so hot they decide to have sex with one another. Even the fat guy gets laid.
I thought this film really had some funny moments and all the women looked good. Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz directed the film and I could see their humor and style getting better from their previous films. Although most of the leading cast are bad actors, some of the supporting actors create some very interesting characters .Vincent D'Onofrio (Full Metal Jacket, Law and Order: Criminal intent) plays a psycho appropriately named Lobotomy. Although his appearance is brief, his character provides some of the best laughs. Mark Torgl from the Toxic Avenger also appears as the counselor's extremely disgusting goofy boyfriend. Mark is great as usual.
The DVD picture quality and sound are very good. The extras are decent although a little light for a Troma disk. The commentary by Lloyd Kaufman is excellent as usual and provides some interesting trivia like how Madonna was turned down by Michael Herz for the role of one of the teenagers. Although Lloyd seems like he's still upset about that, it was probably fortunate for us. The best extras on the disk are actually the trailers for all four of the early sex comedies. They are so cheesy and fun to watch. Anyway, I think The First Turn On! is one of the best early Troma movies. If you want to see what Troma was like before Toxie, this is your best bet.
