Review: Troma's War
Reviewed by: Justin Channell

Troma's War is about a group of Tromaville citizens whose airplane crashes on a deserted island, but they soon learn the island is inhabited by sick and evil terrorists. When the citizens hear of the terrorists plans, they rise up against them to save the USA.

Troma's War is claimed to be a Troma masterpiece by many, including Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz. However, I for one, consider it the worst Troma in-house production to date. The pacing is so dreadfully slow that when I thought the film was almost over, it was only half-way through. Sure, some great effects and scenes are featured, including tounge rippings, exploding breasts (which looked better in Terror Firmer), and, the only scene that elicted a chuckle from me, a girl being raped by a man with AIDS, who wakes up screaming "I have AIDS!" It doesn't sound funny now... but trust me, it is.

The main reason I dislike Troma's War has to do with the fact that the film is dreadfully boring. The Troma sense of humor is sorely under par, with several jokes that are trying to be funny, but failing miserably. Both times I watched it, I found myself nearly falling asleep. Sleep is not something that a Troma movie should cause.

Overall, Troma's War has a few cool moments, but it's certainly not enough to recommend it. Only for the most die-hard Troma fans, and they might not even like it.

Also, for the curious, the version I'm reviewing is the unrated cut from Media Home Video.
